ASA Comments on DOE RFI on Faucets and Showerhead Testing
Earlier this year, the Department of Energy issued a FR notice proposing to amend the test procedures for faucets and showerheads. The notice was a follow-up to a previous notice issued by the DOE in October 2021. The good news is a significant number comments submitted by ASA in 2021 were addressed in the recent notice. ASA has submitted additional comments to the 2022 notice that can be reviewed by clicking here.
DOE Publishes a Final Determination Pertaining to Standards for Unfired Hot Water Storage Tanks
The U.S. Department of Energy has published a Federal Register notice of final determination pertaining to energy conservation standards for unfired hot water storage tanks (UFHWSTs). The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) prescribes standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including UFHWSTs. EPCA also requires DOE to periodically determine whether more stringent, amended standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and would result in significant additional energy savings. In this final determination, DOE determines that the standards for UFHWSTs do not need to be amended. DOE has determined that it lacks clear and convincing evidence that more-stringent standards for UFHWSTs would save a significant additional amount of energy and would be economically justified.
The effective date of this Final Determination is July 25, 2022.
