2024 Legislative Fly-In


ASA's Legislative Fly-in is the PVF-PHCP industry's annual meeting in Washington that puts business leaders in touch with policy makers. It is a unique opportunity to put before our elected officials the issues that impact not just our core industry, but what also impacts small business and manufacturing.

With the 2024 Election Cycle in full swing, this the perfect time to talk with lawmakers about our legislative agenda, invite them to member facilities, and discuss how the PHCP/PVF industry makes an impact with their constituents. 

What To Expect: A unique opportunity to be the voice of the industry in Washington, DC through in-person  meetings with decision makers on Capitol Hill. At the same time, it provides an incredible networking opportunity with industry leaders to discuss solutions to legislative and regulatory hurdles. 

Attendees can anticipate scheduled meetings with the offices of their respective Senators and Representatives, briefings on the latest political and policy developments, as well as exceptional networking and dining events. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

3 p.m. - Registration

4 p.m. Issue Briefing

Whether it is your first time to Washington or your tenth, ASA VP of Advocacy Steve Rossi will provide a personal briefing on best practices when it comes to advocacy, an overview of ASA’s legislative and regulatory agenda, and provide answers to your questions on current events.

6 p.m. - Reception (Hyatt)

7 p.m. - Dinner (Charlie Palmer Steak)
Surrounded by the open expanse of the National Mall, and with impressive views of the Capitol, Charlie Palmer Steak is a legendary meeting place for DC politicians and decision makers. Enjoy an exceptional meal with fellow ASA members.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

9:30 a.m. - Capitol Hill 

10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Meetings 
Members will go to up to Capitol Hill and participate in individual meetings curated with Senators, Representatives, and their staff to advocate on behalf of critical PHCP/PVF issues.

12 p.m. - Lunch (Capitol Hill Club)
Lunch at the Capitol Hill Club. A private, five‐story clubhouse with members that have included the nation’s most influential people – Presidents and Vice Presidents, GOP Members of Congress, Governors, and state party leaders.

6 p.m. - Dinner (The Oceanaire Seafood Room) 
Located in the vibrant and bustling Penn Quarter neighborhood, The Oceanaire Seafood Room is known for its focus on fresh, high-quality seafood and its commitment to offering a sophisticated dining experience. Join fellow ASA members for dinner as they exchange their experiences from the day and discuss solutions to the challenges, facing our industry.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): Metro Station located at entrances to B and C Terminals and take a Yellow Line train toward Mount Vernon Square. Exit the train at Gallery Place-Chinatown and board the Red Line toward Glenmont. Exit the train at Judiciary Square and proceed east on E St to New Jersey Ave.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD): Metro Station located adjacent to Parking Garage 1 via underground tunnel. Take the Silver Line Train toward Downtown Largo and exit at Metro Center. Transfer to Red Line Train toward Glenmont. Exit the train at Judiciary Square and proceed east on E St to New Jersey Ave.

Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI): Take Southbound MARC Penn Line/Amtrak Northeast Corridor to Union Station, Washington, DC. The free shuttle bus from terminal to train station runs every ten minutes.

Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) app and taxi service available at Main Hall entrance of Union Station and designated entrances at DCA, IAD and BWI.

GALLERY PASSES

Visit the Senate and House while they are in session. You can only obtain gallery passes from individual House and Senate offices. To obtain a gallery pass, ask the front desk assistant in any legislative office for a gallery pass before or after your meeting there. This provides an excellent opportunity to spend down time in between meetings.
