Tuesday, July 1, 2025 / News ASA Launches First-Ever Product Data Standard to Drive Industry-Wide Digital Transformation The American Supply Association (ASA) has launched the plumbing and PVF industry’s first-ever Product Data Standard (PDS) — a major step toward streamlining how product data is defined, shared, and used across the supply chain. Developed in collaboration with over 30 manufacturers and distributors, the PDS solves long-standing issues like inconsistent spreadsheets and slow onboarding by standardizing key attributes such as dimensions, materials, and UPCs. The new standard aims to improve accuracy, speed, and compatibility across ERP and eCommerce platforms. Available starting July 1, the PDS covers several high-volume categories including full-line plumbing, water heaters, pipe and tubing, tools, and accessories. ASA will continue to support the rollout through webinars, working sessions, and forums. Built by and for the industry, the PDS is a scalable, practical solution designed to help companies at all stages of digital transformation.
