Wednesday, August 13, 2025 / News Inside the Specifier’s Mind: ASA’s Voice of the Engineer Initiative Engineers, architects, and specifiers play a pivotal role in shaping product decisions for the plumbing-heating-cooling-piping (PHCP) and industrial pipe-valve-fitting (PVF) sectors. Their choices influence not only which products are used, but also how efficiently projects move from concept to completion. Yet, the connection between these decision-makers and the broader supply chain—manufacturers, reps, and wholesalers—can sometimes face gaps in communication, understanding, or support. To address this, the American Supply Association is seeking a clearer picture of what specifiers truly need. The insights gathered will help the industry identify opportunities to streamline the specifying process, enhance collaboration, and deliver better product solutions that meet the realities of today’s projects. Have Your Say ASA has launched the nationwide Voice of the Engineer (VOE) Survey to capture perspectives directly from engineers, architects, and specifiers. Your feedback will shape future programs, resources, and training designed to strengthen relationships across the supply chain. ASA members can help by sharing this survey with their networks—especially with those working in engineering, architecture, or specification roles. The more perspectives we gather, the stronger and more responsive our industry can become. Take the survey here: ASA Voice of the Engineer Survey Questions? Contact Bri Baresel at bbaresel@asa.net.
