Wednesday, March 5, 2025 / News ASA Codes & Standards: Report on Activities and Success from July 2024 through January 2025 From July 2024 to January 2025, the ASA Codes and Standards area has worked diligently to ensure its members can operate in a fair and open marketplace. ASA represented its interests in over 250 hours of meetings, advocating for its positions on various codes and standards. In April and May 2024, the Codes and Standards Task Group successfully proposed 48 positions on model codes, with 85% of those positions approved by relevant code committees. The ASA also worked to keep its members informed, publishing two major articles—one on updates and impacts of codes and standards and another in-depth piece on water efficiency trends—further supporting member awareness and engagement. The ASA Codes and Standards mission is centered on ensuring that new codes and standards do not place unnecessary restrictions on members' ability to produce and sell products. In line with this, ASA led efforts in various initiatives, such as advocating for the inclusion of press connect fittings into plumbing standards and opposing restrictive changes to air-source heat pump water heater codes. By actively participating in ongoing code cycles, ASA continues to protect its members' interests, ensuring a marketplace where regulations support innovation and safety without undue burden.
