Thursday, March 14, 2024 / News Podcast: Top 4 Construction Challengers This Year Dr. Kuehl started off the podcast by telling members that there are two pieces of good news, and two pieces of bad news when talking about construction in 2024. The big inhibition for construction right now is anticipating rate reductions. But this won’t happen until late third quarter – meaning construction projects are on hold. The other bad news is more consistent – the labor shortage. This situation is still an issue when it comes to hiring people for construction projects. Chris tells members that there is still good news on the horizon when it comes to construction. Infrastructure money is finally starting to flow. This money has managed to work its way throughout the states, in terms of opportunities there will be more construction out there for potential projects. The other piece of good news is the continuous growth of certain sectors within the last year – this includes transportation, construction, and warehouse sectors. He tells members that construction projects are there, but liquidity is the main problem, and this may impact ASA members. Dr. Kuehl produces three free economic update podcasts each month for ASA members (on Friday mornings). The podcasts are available in the MyASA portal at www.asa.net/myasa and through all traditional podcast hosting platforms.
